Harnessing Technology Grant - Have you heard of it?
Did you know that state funded schools in England can use their Harnessing Technology Grant to purchase multi year subscriptions for digital curriculum resources - see page 3 of BECTA's Frequently Asked Questions, or download pdf. Next time you order an online subscription, ask us to quote 2 or 3 year subscription rates so that you can use your Harnessing Technology Grant.
Who is eligible: all non fee paying schools, including academies, in England
How much do you get: 75% or more of the fund goes straight to schools, and allocations for the next 3 years have been made. Up to 25% can be held back by the local authority for major authority-wide purchases.
How does it work: the funding starts with the local authority, who then pass it on to the schools in its area. They may take a while to pass the money but it has to be done, and most schools are now receiving their funds. From now on the local authority has to pay schools from the fund each quarter.
